Johan to Mets Helps Yanks

The Mets acquired Johan Santana today for four prospects. I personally could not be happier for this trade. Since the rumors started a month back I did not like what I was hearing. The Yanks would have to give up a lot for Johan. The first name, Phil Hughes, Yankee fans have heard about his potential as a staff ace for a long time. Melky looks like a legitimate MLB center fielder. The other names like Marquez or Jackson I did not want to give up either because they are legit prospects as well.

Santana going to the Mets also means that Boston won't have a one-two punch of Santana and Beckett which would be almost unbeatable.

Finally, this is good because Santana did not have too good of a year last year. He is 29 years old which isn't old, but isn't a 21 year old like Hughes. A record of 15-13 is not worth Hughes, Melky, and one prospect. Throw a likely 7 year deal worth around $140 million, its just not worth it. A rotation of Hughes, Joba, and Kennedy for the next 10-15 years will have a much bigger payoff then overpaying for Johana Santana.

I agree that I love this trade. If the Yankees weren't going to get Santana, I am glad that the Sox or any other team in the AL did. Keeping in the NL means the Yankees will barely see Santana, if at all. Not to mention we keep all our young prospects.

well goot it helps because johans best years might be behind him...25 million per year...hughes, kennedy, and the melk man and going to be studs or atleast solid mlb players.
