Pettitte Shaky against Tigers

Yankee starter Andy Pettitte didn't have his best stuff last night against the Detroit Tigers. Pettitte went 6 innings while giving up 7 hits and surrendering 5 runs and allowing 2 home runs. The offense was quite for the Yankees too. They were held to only 5 hits and scored 2 runs over the course of the game. They play the Tigers again tonight and Ian Kennedy will try to get the Yanks back on track.

Arod and Hughes to DL

Alex Rodriguez has been placed on the 15 day disabled list because of a strained quad. Rodriguez hurt his leg April 20 in Baltimore and missed three games last week before returning for a four-game series at Cleveland. But he was removed for a pinch hitter in the eighth inning of Monday night's 5-2 win over the Indians and said he felt a "pull" while running the bases.

A-Rod's absence comes at a difficult time for New York, which is already missing injured catcher Jorge Posada. The Yankees also put starter Phil Hughes on the 15-day disabled list Wednesday night with a strained right oblique muscle.
"It's frustrating but you kind of just got to deal with it," said Hughes, who is 0-4 with a 9.00 ERA in six starts this year. "There's not much else you can do."

WebDesigners, Advertising Agencies and Hosting providers are often the first point of call for customers wanting a new Website.

TurnKey has some very special functionality that assists these sectors greatly. A Turnkey Hub is the server where TurnKey Websites live. On the Hub can be many sites and often these sites are grouped in to 'Systems'. A System is a group of Websites administered by an administrator who has the power through the System Management console to add or remove Websites, functionality and users.

A Web Designer would have a TurnKey System that would include all their clients' sites and have the power to add new sites or turn old ones off. They can change the designs, add forms or functionality from the TurnKey module library. Using a System provides the ability to run a virtual hosting company without the hardware and application maintenance issues.

A database is a structured collection of records or data. A computer database relies upon software to organize the storage of data. The software models the database structure in what are known as database models. The model in most common use today is the relational model. Other models such as the hierarchical model and the network model use a more explicit representation of relationships.

Database management systems are the software used to organise and maintain the database. These are categorized according to the database model that they support. The model tends to determine the query languages that are available to access the database. A great deal of the internal engineering of a DBMS, however, is independent of the data model, and is concerned with managing factors such as performance, concurrency, integrity, and recovery from hardware failures. In these areas there are large differences between products.

Vintage Moose

Yankee's 39 year old starting pitcher Mike Mussina looked like the moose of old last night against the White Sox. He gave up 2 earned runs on 4 hits through 7 strong innings of work. He has been highly criticized lately because of his poor pitching performances, but last night showed that he might still have some left in the tank.

The Yankees went on to win the game 6-4. Jorge Posada and Johnny Damon each drove in 2 runs and Mariano Rivera earned his sixth save of the year while he has still not given up a run this year.

Steinbrenner on Joba: "I want him as a starter"

Yankees co-chairman Hank Steinbrenner told The New York Times that Joba Chamberlain is being wasted in a reliever role.

Steinbrenner told the paper, "I want him as a starter and so does everyone else, including him, and that is what we are working toward and we need him there now. There is no question about it, you don't have a guy with a 100-mile-per-hour fastball and keep him as a setup guy. You just don't do that. You have to be an idiot to do that." He says the notion of having Chamberlain spend part of the season in the bullpen won't last forever.

"The mistake was already made last year switching him to the bullpen out of panic or whatever. I had no say in it last year and I wouldn't have allowed it. That was done last year, so now we have to catch up. It has to be done on a schedule so we don't rush him."

I feel that they should wait and see what is happening with the other starters before they make a decision on Joba. If the starters get their acts together, then I would go with the if it aint broken don't fix it approach. Then next year Joba will be in the starting rotation and see how it works out then. If the starters continue to be mediocre, then they should send Joba to the minors this year for a few weeks and bring him back up as a starter.

Arod 15th on All-time HR List

In the first inning of last nights game against the Sox at the stadium, Alex Rodriguez followed Abreu's 2 run shot with a blast of his own. Arod's homerun was estimated at over 450 feet and it was his 522 homerun of his brilliant career. That shot put him ahead of Willie McCovey and arguable the greatest hitter of all-time Ted Williams. Arod is now in sole posession of 15th place all-time and by the end of the season he could move ahead of Jimmie Fox, Mickey Mantle, Mike Schmidt, and Reggie Jackson.

Wang, Joba, Mo Shut Down Rays

Yankees starter Chien-Ming Wang dominated six innings while giving up no runs, scattering four hits and fanning six batters. Chamberlain came in for the seventh and eighth and struck out one batter and not allowing a hit or a single base runner. He opened a lot of eyes when the radar gun had him clocked at 101 mph. The energy at the stadium at that point was similar to when Rivera would come in the game in the World Series years back. Then River entered the game in the 9th and struck out 2 and allowing zero base runners.

The Yankees won the game 2-0 with the runs coming on a 4th inning two run home run by Hideki Matsui. The Yankees are currently at 3-3.

Internet marketers are advised to pay attention to what is happening in data warehousing and mining. Advances are making these systems more affordable and less complex. Having and using them effectively can give Internet marketers a competitive advantage.

Many companies purchase turnkey systems from IT vendors because they do not have the resources to construct a system themselves. Turnkey systems are, as the name implies, constructed by the vendor to the purchaser’s specifications. When the system is completed, the keys are turned over to the buyer and the system is ready to operate.

Hughes Opens Some Eyes After BP Session

Yankees young gun Phil Hughes had a very impressive live batting practice session. Hughes threw a total of 40 pitches, 10 each, to Jeter, Damon, Abreu, and Cervelli. Of those 40 pitches, only two made it out of the infield with only one being hit hard. "You had hitters telling the next hitter, 'Be ready,' " manager Joe Girardi said. "The ball was getting on you quickly. He was locked in."

Last year, Hughes' first season in the bigs, was injury filled. When he did pitch, he would hit 91-92 on the gun and was inconsistent. Yankee catchers Posada and Molina have noticed alot more pop when he pitches. Scouts say that so far Hughes has been hitting 94-95 on thegh gun.

The topic for my internet marketing class is research and using data. Database sources are an example of using data. An example of this is bricks-and-clicks which typically integrate their online and offline database activities. For example, General Motors (GM) collected information from over one million of its GM credit cardholders who opted-in to reveal the information when they registered at gmcard.com. They were sent marketing information based on their current vehicle ownership, their automobile preferences, and intention to purchase. These promotions stimulated sales. Over fifty million direct-mail pieces are sent annually to attract new credit-card customers.

Arod Expecting MVP Caliber Season from Jeter

Yankee third baseman and reining league MVP Alex Rodriguez is expecting big things from the Yankee captain. "I think Jeter is going to have an MVP season," Rodriguez said. "That's my prediction for the year. I think he's going to have an explosive, monster season. I think he's in great shape. I think he did some great things this winter with his workouts. I'm very excited for his year."

When Jeter was asked about Arods expectations of him, Jeter was very flattered. He went on to say, "I don't really think about [an MVP Award]," Jeter said on Friday. "The bottom line is -- I've said it time and time again -- you play to win. You always want to do well, because the better you do, the better the team can be." With an attitude like that its understandable why he is considered one of the greatest and most clutch players to ever play the game.

Joba to Start Year in Pen

With Roger Clemens dominating the media, this weeks topic will be the Yankees decision to start pitcher Joba Chamberlain in the bullpen. Joba will begin the season as the setup man for Mariano Rivera. After being called up to the majors last season, Joba went 2-0 with an ERA of 0.38 while striking out 34 batters over 24 innings. The plan, as of right now, is to keep Joba in that role for the first two months of the season. When June comes around, they would send him down to the minors to being strengthening his arm for about 3 weeks to be called up again as a starter. Last season was the first time in his career, minors and college, that he pitched out of the pen.

The Yankees are doing this to protect his arm. Young pitchers, Joba being 22 years old, have recently had serious arm issues. Mark Prior, Francisco Liriano, and Felix Hernandez have had a rough start to their careers because they have suffered serious arm trouble. Hopefully with the Yankees being extra cautious with Joba, he will be healthy and be a perennial Cy Young candidate for the next ten years along with fellow Yankee young gun Phil Hughes.

For more information on Joba's future, click here.

Joba to Start Year in The Pen

The most popular Yankee related topic this week is Clemens, but turn on ESPN or any news channel or webpage and you're guarenteed to find out all you need right away. Another significant Yankees topic is the Yankees have decided start 22 year old phenom Joba Chamberlain off in the bullpen setting up Mariano Rivera. Joba was virtually unhittable after being called up and becoming the set up man last year. He went 2-0 with an ERA of 0.38 while striking out 34 batters over 24 innings.

The Yankees are planning on keeping him in the set up man role for the first two months of the season. Then when June comes around, they would like to send him down to the minors for 3 weeks to start building his arm strength up so he can come back to his natural position as a starting pitcher. With young arms like Mark Prior, Fransico Liriano, and Felix Hernandez, just to name a few, having serious arm trouble at a young age it makes sense for the Yankees to be cautious with their prized arm.

The Captain says Roids Won't Affect The Yanks

With current Yankee Andy Pettitte and former Yankees Chuck Knoblauch and Roger Clemens named in the the Mitchell Report, which is a report on steroids in baseball, Yankee Captain Derek Jeter doesn't see it having an affect on his team. Jeter stated, "You know how it is in New York, there's always questions. It will probably die down after the first couple days when he talks to the media, addresses them and answers those questions. But in New York, there's always something every year. ... It might be a little different for Andy. Other than that, I don't think so".

I agree with what Jeter says. A good example of this is Jason Giambi. He admitted to steroid use two years ago and he came back and won comeback player of the year and his steroid use seemed to faid away. With Pettitte, he did admit to it and he said he used it to recover from elbow surgery and that it was not to obtain an unfair advantage.

Johan to Mets Helps Yanks

The Mets acquired Johan Santana today for four prospects. I personally could not be happier for this trade. Since the rumors started a month back I did not like what I was hearing. The Yanks would have to give up a lot for Johan. The first name, Phil Hughes, Yankee fans have heard about his potential as a staff ace for a long time. Melky looks like a legitimate MLB center fielder. The other names like Marquez or Jackson I did not want to give up either because they are legit prospects as well.

Santana going to the Mets also means that Boston won't have a one-two punch of Santana and Beckett which would be almost unbeatable.

Finally, this is good because Santana did not have too good of a year last year. He is 29 years old which isn't old, but isn't a 21 year old like Hughes. A record of 15-13 is not worth Hughes, Melky, and one prospect. Throw a likely 7 year deal worth around $140 million, its just not worth it. A rotation of Hughes, Joba, and Kennedy for the next 10-15 years will have a much bigger payoff then overpaying for Johana Santana.
